World AIDS Day 2005
We displayed a little more than 1,000,000 pennies
On World AIDS Day 2006, we displayed more than 3,000,000 pennies by the end of the weekend which (including donations made during the event) resulted in more than $40,000, representing 4,000,000 Africans who had died of AIDS. At that time, we had not even kept pace with the number of Africans dying since we began collecting pennies.
During the Presidential nominating conventions, we will display 6,100,000 pennies -- one penny for each African estimated to have died of AIDS since the last Presidential election and since we started to collect pennies. Please see our blog for the latest information.
